NATURE DOCTOR – OTHER BAFFLING QUESTIONS
The conscientious doctor is sometimes baffled because a seemingly serious case takes an unexpected turn for the better. On the other hand, the opposite can also happen: the patient seems to be making fine progress but suddenly the picture changes and the illness takes such a rapid turn for the worse that no skill, no effort, is able to arrest it. Even the best surgeon, highly skilled in his profession, may suffer the tragedy inflicted by the merciless Angel of Death in that his best friend, sister, mother or even his own wife passes away prematurely. Or the scourge of cancer may take hold of the doctor himself and all the efforts of his colleagues, using the most up-to-date therapies, prove to be in vain.
All this is very sad and we are filled with sorrow. For how can one help the patient to escape such an end? It would be a great relief for all of us, would it not, if there were some natural remedy that could cure the disease. Sadly, though, even the most experienced specialist knows of no such remedy. True, there are some good medicines that may have brought relief for some patients, but unfortunately there is no specific remedy for cancer, one that cures it without fail. What is more, it seems that we will never find one. This, too, is a tragic prospect. Once again, patients, nurses, pharmacologists, as well as doctors, are confronted by a puzzle. Is it not true that conscientious efforts are being made to find a cure, and endless hours and huge sums of money are being spent on research? Should it all be to no avail? Is it not true that those who seek will also find?
